Dr Blandine Poulet

Dr Blandine Poulet is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool, alongside her role as Deputy Head of Department and Education Lead. Her lab, currently composed of 2 post-docs and 2 masters students, uses preclinical murine models of disease to focus on determining mechanisms of joint degeneration during osteoarthritis. More specifically, her group is interested in how all tissues of the musculoskeletal system interact and promote OA development, and the role of specific extracellular matrix proteins in joint health and disease (such as Fibrillin-1). In parallel, Dr Poulet's research works to refine mouse models of OA to increase their translation to human disease; this includes the role of age, sex and menopause. Active funding includes major grants from the UK Medical Research Council (£1.1M as PI; £800k as co-PI). She has published so far 24 primary published papers, with H-index of 18 and 999 citations (Scopus).
