Dr Lorenzo Giordani

Dr. Lorenzo Giordani is a researcher at Sorbonne University specialized in muscle biology and bioinformatics. His expertise is particularly focused on spatial biology and single-cell modeling. After earning his Master’s degree from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, he moved to California to pursue a PhD under the supervision of Dr. Puri at the Sanford Burnham Institute. Upon completing his PhD, he returned to Europe, where he continued his research as a postdoctoral fellow, first at the Cochin Institute and then at the Centre de Recherche en Myologie. In 2020, Dr. Giordani was awarded an ANR JCJC grant, enabling him to establish his own lab. His research group currently investigates the cellular heterogeneity of muscle tissue and seeks to uncover the molecular mechanisms underpinning muscle function and pathology. With a focus on Duchenne and Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophies, Dr. Giordani’s team integrates bioinformatics and cellular biology to deepen understanding of these conditions and explore potential therapeutic pathways.
